Kallie's 2 week check-up

Ok, here is the boring stuff for all you readers out there. Since I am using this blog as my journal... and going to eventually put it into a book, I am going to post things like kids wellness check updates and "stuff".

I know it is going to be boring for most of you, so sorry.

We had Kallie's two week check up and here are her stats...

Weight: 7 lbs 10 oz. Up from her birth of 7 lbs 4 oz,

Length: 19 1/2" Not much change there

Percentile: 25% in both areas.

She is also doing a good job adjusting to night and days. I really can not complain. For only being three weeks old, she is doing great!! Her first spread is about 5 hours then falls right back asleep and then a second spread of 4 hours. Ok, so this is MOST nights. I do have some exceptions. But for the most part I am only getting up on time a night!! YEA!!

Happy Anniversary

I addition to all the kids going to school this week. Neil and I are celebrating our 9 year anniversary!!! Yes, our anniversary is the day after Paiges birthday, so lately it tends to be overlooked.
I just want to say Happy Anniversary Honey!! I can not believe it has been NINE years! So much has changed through these years. I look around at what our life is now and am so happy with what we have. Three wonderful children who make us happy and a close family. Thanks for all the happiness you have given. Love you.

The REAL first day of School

Today was Jacobs first day of school.... for real this time!! We went to his assessment yesterday, which helped him get more excited. We decided we were going to walk this morning with the masses what walk their kids to school. It was fun to join the "school going crowd." Jacob took his bike, but got nervous riding with all the people around so ended up walking his bike to school.

He ran right in again this time and was happy to see the lights on in his classroom!! The room was full of all his classmates sitting at their tables. He found him name on his assigned table and happily sat down with the other two boys that were already there.

It was hard to let him go... I wanted to just stay outside the door the whole time and watch him from a distance. Walking back home was almost lonely. Paige and I were anxious to pick him up when the time came and I was so happy to see him come out of the school with a smile on his face and hear that enjoyed his first day. His exact words were "I like Kindergarten." I am so happy. I just hope this excitement lasts up through high school.

It seems to me that when life has changes they really seem to come all at once. This week has been a fun one for us and it is only Wednesday. Paige turned three years old yesterday!! She has been so excited for this day and now she can officially say she is three years old.

She also started Preschool and is just happened to be on her birthday. She was able to be the spotlight at school and share a little bit about herself. She was given a Princess Crown by her teacher, to wear for the day just to make her feel that much more special.


We had celebrated her birthday on Sunday with the Andersen side of the family. It was there that she was able to open her presents. So, last night we decided to go and do something fun for her on her special day. We took the kids bowling. Neil and I just enjoyed watching the kids try to carry those 8 pound balls to the lane and then jump with excitement as the knocked down two or three of the pins. It does not take much to excited them these days.

Happy Birthday Honey!! You are a delight to us and never cease to amaze us with the things that come out of that mouth!! You truly are a special girl and a joy to your family. We love you!!

When I was a kid, adults used to bore me to tears with their tedious diatribes about how hard things were when they were growing up; what with walking twenty-five miles to school every morning ... uphill BOTH ways
yadda, yadda, yadda

And I remember promising myself that when I grew up, there was no way in hell I was going to lay a bunch of crap like that on kids about how hard I had it and how easy they've got it!
But now that... I'm over the ripe old age of thirty, I can't help but look around and notice the youth of today.

You've got it so easy! I mean, compared to my childhood, you live in a Utopia!
And I hate to say it but you kids today you donʼt know how good you've got it!

I mean, when I was a kid we didn't have the Internet. If we wanted to know something, we had to go to the library and look it up ourselves, in the card catalog!!
There was no email!! We had to actually write somebody a letter with a pen! Then you had to walk all the way across the street and put it in the mailbox and it would take like a week to get there!

There were no MP3's or Napsters! You wanted to steal music, you had to hitchhike to the record store and shoplift it yourself! Or you had to wait around all day to tape it off the radio and the DJ' d usually talk over the beginning and @#*% it all up!

We didn't have fancy crap like Call Waiting! If you were on the phone and somebody else called they got a busy signal, that's it! And we didn't have fancy Caller ID Boxes either! When the phone rang, you had no idea who it was! It could be your school, your mom, your boss, your bookie, your drug dealer, a collections agent, you just didn't know!!! You had to pick it up and take your chances, mister!

We didn't have any fancy Sony Playstation video games with high-resolution 3-D graphics! We had the Atari 2600! With games like 'Space Invaders' and 'asteroids'. Your guy was a little square! You actually had to use your imagination!! And there were no multiple levels or screens, it was just one screen forever! And you could never win. The game just kept getting harder and harder and faster and faster until you died! Just like LIFE!

When you went to the movie theater there no such thing as stadium seating! All the seats were the same height! If a tall guy or some old broad with a hat sat in front of you and you couldn't see, you were just screwed!

Sure, we had cable television, but back then that was only like 15 channels and there was no on screen menu and no remote control! You had to use a little book called a TV Guide to find out what was on! You were screwed when it came to channel surfing! You had to get off your butt and walk over to the TV to change the channel and there was no Cartoon Network either! You could only get cartoons on Saturday Morning. Do you hear what I'm saying!?! We had to wait ALL WEEK for cartoons, you spoiled little rats!

If we wanted popcorn, we had to use that stupid Jiffy Pop thing and shake it over the stove forever like an idiot.

That's exactly what I'm talking about!

You kids today have got it too easy.

You're spoiled. You guys wouldn't have lasted five minutes back in 1980!
